Questions about the research design are always also questions about the appropriateness of the subject matter. The quality of their implementation is reflected in how well they succeed in adapting design, research question and research field. The authors of this book answer the question of the suitability of the subject partly by developing new methods for new challenges in nursing and nursing science, partly by applying 'classical' research designs, as suggested by hermeneutic methods, metaphor analysis, praxeology or ethnography. These five very different answers show how it is possible to meet methodological and practical research requirements. The need to get involved with the subject and to understand qualitative research as a process becomes clear.
