2024 Theme: The Art & Science of Empathy in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Accountability

AACE attendees and faculty will explore the relationship between empathy and AI, emphasizing the idea that empathy can be both a creative and scientific endeavor within the context of artificial intelligence. This theme delves into the development, applications, and ethical implications of integrating patient care into AI systems.

This year we have two world-renowned leaders in the field, each presenting their unique perspective on the AI accountability equation.

Your presenters:

Dr. Helen Riess is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the MGH Department of Psychiatry's Empathy Research and Training in Psychotherapy Research group. She's working on a study to see how to improve empathy in the patient-physician interaction.

Dr. Dereck Paul is the Cofounder and CEO of Glass Health, an AI-powered platform for clinical decision support. Glass Health was founded on the belief that technology should be fully leveraged to improve the practice of medicine. The company is dedicated to empowering physicians with a new generation of software that can sharpen diagnostic accuracy, increase the implementation of evidence-based treatment, and improve patient outcomes worldwide. Glass Health's mission and product have been highlighted in media outlets such as NPR and TechCrunch.
