Do we have a moral obligation to donate our organs postmortem? Or is it merely an act that is desirable but not required? And how should organ donation be regulated? Should one orientate oneself to the consent or the objection solution and what exactly do these regulations provide for in each case? And what role in the decision-making process should the bereaved relatives have? Schaber argues that we have a moral obligation to make our organs available postmortem and that organ removal should be regulated according to what he calls an ‘explanatory solution’: the state would have to regularly remind citizens to opt for organ donation to express if there is no willingness to remove the organ.
